Osborne is a hyperchondriac with a rare blood group, who consumes so many pills he rattles when he climbs the stairs. Renting the worst room in the house, located in the basement, Osborne is pitied by Miss Jones, who cooks for him every day, and scorned by Rigsby, who claims Osborne spends so much time at the hospital he has his own chair, and was consulted on the colour scheme when the surgery was redecorated.[1]

When Rigsby confronts Osborne, accusing him of taking advantage of the other tenants, Osborne collapses, causing the landlord to think the tenant is dead.[2]
